Here's a coincidence On Channel 2 I'm watching a program called Art of the Low Counyries.
I watched commentary on a huge painting called The Night Watchman.
It features Amsterdam's militia. But at the time it was painted, the militia had become a Gentleman's Club better known for carousing than they were for fighting.

That is a great painting
BUT
I am pretty sure, correction accepted, that the faces in paintings by that artist were of nobles and rich trades-people who paid to have their visages put into the work.
It never ends.
The painting by Rembrandt was created 372 years ago and is correctly called The Night Watch, this shortened name having been bestowed upon it during the 18th century.
It is more than 2 1/2 times older than Canada.
I wonder what Canadians will be looking at more than 200 years from now?
