"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

You were asking

I haven't had time yet to make the call to The Auroran.

Council  directed staff to  prepare terms of reference  for an expression of
interest in  providing an all -season  facility.

Council  authorized staff  to invite Expressions of Interest.

Staff received expressions of Interest.

A committee of staff  met to analyze the  proposals

By tried and true and legal procedure ,the bid representing the best proposal
was established and a report presented to Council.

The facility could be  provided on land  not useable because of baseballs
flying about . The service would be available at no cost to the town. The tennis club however or its members would pay to use the facility.

Members of the tennis club were present in the Council Chamber.

Councillor Gallo  challenged the process.

The report was received.

No action was taken.

Many hours of high-priced staff time once again used for no useful purpose.

Machinations  are now afoot to acquire the Amouries; not the town's hydro building, we own that  and need it but don't have use of it. And make it available to the Aurora Tennis Club.

The Aurora Tennis Club  currently have exclusive use of tennis courts and  club house facilities at Mc Mahon Park at no expense to themselves.

There is a lot of scrambling going with tennis players looking for winter courts,. Timberlane has filed its plan for condos already.

Wouldn't the old drill shed make a good monthly, winter home for the farmers' market ?

Does that mean the bubble bust ? Surely it was a no-brainer. No cost to the town, I do not care if Mr Gallo thinks it might not be beautiful. That is not the point of an athletic facility in a bubble - they are all over the Region.

Sure it would. But we do not own it, do we ? I'm not sure. I do believe there must be alternative sites already owned by the town that are looking for tenants.

08:22, not yet, but once we do, it would be a good location for the off-season farmers' market.
