"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

Congratulations are in order

Winning is better than losing but losing is not the end of the world. I've been here before.

I acknowledge certain aspects of the  job I will not miss at all, at all.

I know many were counting on my being there again. But we fought the good fight and it was not to be.

To-day is the first day of the rest of our lives and  many things will not change. My grandchildren hung around into the night. Aaron brought up on the iPad  a u-tube  featuring comedian Dave Chappell in a Comedy routine called  The Haters' Ball.  It is really funny.

The blog will continue. I have been a member of Council  throughout the seven years of publication
The  topic has mainly been Town  business . Certain prohibitions have been observed.

We shall spread our wings a bit.  The conversation  should keep going but I would like to explore the advantage of signing in.

I have no intention of folding my tent and stealing away into the night. I will not be hanging around the Council Chamber for meetings either. I have endured more than my share of that.

I congratulate the new Council and wish them well.

I am hoping that they can work well together now that the faulty dream of a few to turn the clock back has been shut down. The rapid cancellations of rabid twitter accounts speaks volumes.

You will be missed at the table, but please keep up the good work here.

Your typical gracious nature may be one of your strong points. It’s not mine. I`m pissed that you didn`t get voted back to council, and pissed that some got voted back in! Good God I hope Mrakas will be watching our money with the same care you did, because he`s the only one there who I`m hoping who will. Pretty pathetic! Thank you for keeping up your Blog.

E. I am sad to see that you fell short in votes this time around. You will be missed!!! Your knowledge, experience and spunk cannot be replaced.

I will not watch the Aurora version of the "Gong Show "any more.

I learned J. Abel received the highest number of votes last night and is now the new deputy/caddie.

I hope the new blood have some spunk and can sift through the driftwood that was re-elected.

Wishing you well :)

Councillor Buck is not going anywhere, In fact, her Blog could now accept ads to help pay the freight. She does have a proven base from the vote count which is better than those who read that " other " paper. Might have to ask other bloggers how to go about getting good ads though.........

One candidate is still into deep denial. He truly believed that all those visiting his feed were supporters. There are even 2 new twitter accounts. Only now is it sinking in, very slowly, that Aurora residents were merely making trips to the zoo.

Tomorrow morning, I am going on a sign hunt. To see if those who were so swift to erect the things are just as fast at taking them down, Experience has taught that this is not the case.

This is not scientific.

My observation along a handful of fairly major streets was a preponderance of Gallo and Pullano signs.

The two biggest losers.

Well, I guess the stratgey worked. Dawe and Pirri were the only candidates that had a last name ending in a vowel to get elected.
