"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

tell us more

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Where Does It End ?":

In my day, we took care of these problems on our own. No media, police, lawyers or judges. Just family or friends. Re-offending was extremely low if at all.

So, tell us. how did your friends or family do that ?

If children were afraid to tell be because  they would not be believed . Or they had been convinced the  guilt was theirs....how did you know you had taken care of the problem?

I canot believe anyone made such an ignorant comment. Far too many incidents were buried deep inside families who feared going to the police. And we have no idea how many individuals were never brought to any kind of justice.

How would you know if an offence happened a second time? Whoever did the deed could just have done it again to the same person and same person just took it because nothing happened the first time so why tell again. I would certainly want to hope it never happened again but there is always wondering if you really stopped it.

Not knowing where that commenter lived, I have to dismiss the remark as simply talk. Like those who threaten convicted rapists with vengeance in the prison systems. It just does not happen.
