"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

Visions of Sugar Plums Dance in their Heads

A For sale sign has Ben on Hirton House property for several weeks. For that matter it has been for sale since The idea of a Heritage  Theme Park was first proposed by William Albino, using tAurora Historical  Society and the Mayor's support to give it credibility.

It took weeks of staff time, supporting the idea all the way and eventually $25,000 for a consultant to advise there was no merit in public participation in such a project.

But before that negative reaction expressed itself clearly in the community.

Despite everything the Mayor continued to express support for the project.

Horton House is for sale. It's a private matter.

Council-elect does not take office until  Dec 1at.

Visions of sugar plums ...do they dance in anyone's head .

With the Joint-Ops still out for final tender and a few other hot potatoes including that court case over the land dispute with the developer, I doubt that there will be any major project brought into play.

There was simply no gov't funding available. Nor any sponsors from the business community. ALL councillors admitted that even Hillary House was not sustainable and gave it just this year to get on track.

Ha! Ha! Heritage Park.

A paltry $10,000,000 for openers with a sliding scale that could have seen that figure double.

And for what. The self-gratification of a few.

It's the equivalent of putting a Disney-World theme park at the intersection of highways 400 and 401. Maybe the Fords could have installed subways in lieu of cars and trucks.

This is one of those brainless half-thoughts when you get up in the middle of the night to go pee.

Thanks for the memory!

There has to be an end to constantly addressing an issue without seeing any improvement. A lady in the hair-dressers' this morning was complaining that while she loved volunteering to help out wherever she could, the incessant demands for money on top of that were grinding her down.
And, yes, I was eaves-dropping.

Volunteers are being ' encouraged ' to purchase tickets for fund-raisers.

Any volunteer should be well informed about the organization that they choose to engage their time and money before they decide to sign themselves up.

I quite agree but when you work for different outfits and then discover each expects you to attend ticketed events that you have prepped with them, it seems over the top.
