"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

TO MARKET!!!!!!!!!!!!! TO MARKET

Aurora Farmers' Market starts on Saturday at the Town Park at 8 a.m. on Wells Street.

Vendors have made their permit applications and paid their fees. There's a bottleneck . As of today, permits are not yet issued.

There has been no advertising because the Mayor's favourite volunteer quit.

Councillor Stephen Granger, the Mayor's Council Liaison Appointee has also terminated his connection.

For the moment, The Farmers' Market is at sixes and sevens.

But never fear. They will rally and be better than ever this year.

All the better for being independent.

Starting Saturday, a favourite summer ritual will commence again at 8 a.m. on Wells Street. in front of the beautiful old school building, at the Town Park in Aurora.

Come One!!!!!!! Come All!!!!!!!!!

Why does the permit situation not surprise me.

In the dead of winter, I received a letter from the Town telling me it was time to purchase a 2010 dog license. I can fill out the form and take it to one of the Pet Valu stores in Aurora.

I filled out the form and walked into the store on Henderson. Guess what? DOn't have them from the Town yet. Not sure when. Come back in 2 weeks. I came back 3 weeks later, still not in. The store has called the Town - no idea when they will have them. They have taken the sign out of the window advertising them as a place to get them. The clerk tells me - not officially - why bother - they don't have a clue they will never know you did not buy it.

I called the Town - bylaw office. Call was dropped - twice - during the transfer. Sent them an email - should be there next week. Next week comes along - not there. Sent another email - no response. Sent another email 2 days later - no response.

Guess what... my dog is going to be an illegal. This is just stupid.

PS...
I think my Google account has lapsed.

Fuimus,

Be careful using the word 'illegal' around Town Hall.

One of those lawyer types that seem to frequent the place these days might hear you.

Now that the Pet Valu stores have finally received the licences I'm sure there will be a full page purple ad in the Banner proclaiming how this Mayor and Council have fixed the situation.
