There are all sorts of problem areas in
Canadian society that merit your thoughtful
attention. Is the funeral of a young cop that
high on your priorities ?
******************
I acknowledge the death of a young police officer is in the forefront of my mind at this time.
I believe I am not alone.
In the same way, young men and woman blown to pieces in countries where they are sent to bring "peace", remains brought home, in flag draped coffins,in solemn procession, for families to bury, is a senseless waste.
All the fine words about heroism and courage and dedication to the community or country give no comfort.
Families carry on. Because that's what you do. Because there is nothing else you can do. But their lives will never be the same. Grief will subside but sadness will remain.
A life cut short is a promise unfullfilled.
There is no solace. No continuum. Nothing is left but to endure.
Sometimes, talking about it helps .

Watched a bit of council last night, enough to see the debate on the climbing apparatus at Confederation park. I am happy that the motion did not carry, but disappointed that it is deferred. Once Mr. Downey said that the park was approved by the CSA, one more question needed to be asked, which was whether or not the town's liability coverage would step in should someone be injured. If that was affirmative, then the motion should have been defeated. Now, we will waste a whole bunch of staff time simply repeating what Mr. Downey already said last night, and then another round at the debating table.
I wonder if you had the votes to defeat it - my guess is that you, Pirri and Ballard would have voted against it. Maybe even Gaertner, since it was Mayor Dawe's motion. Assuming that WG voted against, with Gallo gone, that would have left 3 others minus the chair, and lets assume they all voted for. (Frankly it was confusing to me who was in the chair, but it appeared that Dawe was back in the chair for the voting). That would have been 4 - 3 against, minus the chair. Can the chair vote in that case to create a tie?
