"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

Town Services are a Category Unto Themselves.

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Comparators Abound":

Apples abound with oranges...and pomegranates...and Kumquats...and...

************
Sounds quite Christmasy. But no... we are not speaking of a fruity variety.
We  speak of programs organised and offered by volunteer groups  who give  hundreds of  hours of their time to  provide the community, particularly children, with  opportunity for a  well-rounded experience Discovering  attributes  and achieving  the satisfaction of trying and succeeding.
As well as parent hours  spent teaching  and coaching and raisinng  fundsthe municipality provides  facilities for their needs.
They are not free.
They are shared.
Every effort is made to achieve financial viability.
Hundreds of thousands of  tax dollars are not doled out  to groups with exclusive use of free facilities with maintenance and utilities thrown in to boot.
Adding  insult to injury, while parents work hard to provide opportunity for  children and pay taxes demanded by the town for the services  utilised,  the  tax revenues they paid are   being handed out the back door to an agressive and abrasive group  completely confident of their entitlement.
Whatever way it's twisted , these circumstances can  not be justified.
