The comment at 5.49 a.m. yesterday was a spirited defense of Mr. Albino .
A flurry of comments have followed .
They divert attention from the issue to Mr.Albino.
That the town could be so nearly coerced into expending millions on a scheme totally lacking in substance is ,to me, the unbelievable factor.
Mr.Albino did not accomplish it by himself .
Heading the initial list of supporters was the Office of Mayor.
No doubt it lent immediate credibility to the project.
Yet it meant nothing.
No serious examination of the scheme.
Names collected before Council had any idea what was afoot.
For a scheme that never amounted to anything but a fantasy.
Despite town resources indiscriminately thrown at it.
The only identifiable factor, a real estate deal, to transfer millions from public coffers into the pockets of three owners of unexamined vintage buildings hemmed in by private homes.
Mr.Albino is not the issue.
The crazy scheme promoted with the help of people from whom we had a right to expect better....
That is the issue
So, thankyou for the research and up to date information.
iIt will be filed.

Are we running some sort of real estate scam that will drain mucho dollars from our people and fill the pockets of a few others?
Is the mayor supposed to represent the electorate and citizens or the interest of a handful of greedy people?
This is all too stupid and will result in a judicial enquiry if it keeps up much longer.
That's a bad thing to have on your back as an incumbent.
I find the Mayor not representing us well at the Region either. The money (our money) is pouring out of there. Remember a good junk of our tax money flows to the Region. And if you take a look at the Region's budget it would make you ill.
If this idea has any feasibility, those backing it should run for election to see exactly what the electorate think of it. That includes the Mayor who has declared that he is running again. He is certainly going to be having to defend his support of this and a few other big ticket items that just appeared out of nowhere.
That is his right. His obligation now. It should be very interesting to observe.
Perhaps Mr. Albino had a vision. That vision should have been properly presented to the HAC. The chairs - Abel and Humphries should have examined the plan, asked questions and assessed its merit once presented with sufficient information. If sufficient information was not presented the door should have been closed and Mr. Albino advised the Town is unable to assess the proposal.
I don't know Mr. Albino and cannot assess his intentions. What is clear is that we have two elected officials who had a job to do and failed to do it.
Mr. Albino has had his reputation tarnished, the town again wasted resources and taxpayers question what is going on at Town hall.
Mayor Dawe:
" I have been in favour of this project since the get-go "
WE have to keep in mind that it was not just the Mayor who was in favour of entering negotiations and ' keeping the owners of the buildings safe '. It was only narrowly delayed for 3 months.
Cllr Gallo wanted a commitment...right away.
Aurora Council should shelve this project indefinitely, not just for the silly 90 day period that Councillor Thompson moved and was carried.
If the private proponents of this hair-brained project wish to see it move forward in a reasonable fashion they should, at their own cost, retain consultants, architects and engineers and come back to Council with a detailed plan that would take the three properties from their present state of disrepair and transform them into something that would captivate the support of the public.
As a major part of their effort they should indicate how the project would be financed without any town money, i.e. private funding and government grants. They should also demonstrate how the operation of this "Heritage Park" would be self-funding by a combination of public admissions and special events.
For Council to waste any more time on this matter is to take time away from some of the real issues of the town, of which there are many. and on which our residents are being short-changed.
oops sorry..I misread the comment.
10:14 - Mr. Albino is use to getting his reputation tarnished. No big deal for him. The Mayor...he's well on his way to the same fate.
While Councillor Ballard babbles on about dogs. Sigh .
Mr Heard is on the HAC; I would like to hear a first hand account of that meeting.
Yes, Bob, he is - even after his very public resignation during an Open Forum.
Howzat work?!
17:24
You are so predictable. Someone mentions Mr Watts or Mr Heard and you implode. Fun to watch
Yep...He blew up real good.
As predictable as you, 18:15? Someone comments...and you chirp.
I think we are still going to have to keep that petition in mind. There will likely be a wave or two of rhetoric to come.
