"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

Yes you can help

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "A Tale of Treachery":

6:34 A chainsaw would be useless. Removal would be expensive and complicated. We can't help the guy.

***************

You  can help. Call or e-mail your Councillors and the Mayor. Tell them what you think about the situation.
They will be pleaed to hear from you
They have already heard and listened to the three abutting neighbours.  And done what they wanted them to do.
Now  they need to hear from the  community.
From those who have no interest other than fairness  and common sense in the town's business.

I will try. The last time it didn't work. Got a lecture on ' moral persuasion '. Still don't know what it meant in that context.

The only thing that seems to work is "boots on the ground."

Pack the council chamber with 120 pairs of feet, put the physical pressure on those dodos.

Every pair of boots is a vote.

They will pay attention.

Don't you condemn this practice when it's employed by those with whom you disagree?

I fear we can expect the 3 Stooges to pack the meeting with a bunch of angry puppets. That outfit called STORM for supposedly protecting the Morraine will likely be front and centre - same faces, same planners, same ugliness.

My Grandfather was a farmer. He took down trees, replanted or replaced somewhere else on the property all his life. If he were able to come back from the dead today and found out that you were not able to take down a couple trees on your own property...he would jump back into his grave.

What a bunch of crap councillor. Where were you when that dumpsite was brought to your attention?

Oh...with the developers as usual.

What are you talking about? It's far too early to be hitting the sauce. Bundle up and go out and enjoy the day.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if 15-20 Aurora residents attended the Council meeting Tuesday, each carrying a chain-saw or an axe, to indicate their full and unconditional support of the Staff report and recommendation that approved the removal of the three trees?

@10:27
Your reference to a dumpsite on that parcel of land reveals your total ignorance of site preparation. Part of the process involves removal of top soil, perhaps stored off site until needed, and the addition of new fill for grading.
There was no ' discovery '. Complete plans have been negotiated at various levels for literally years.
Do your homework. The paper-trail is readily available & will cost you nothing.

It is completely whacky that this entire mess has been caused by a few cranky neighbours. Has Council lost whatever sense they had remaining? Time for the barf bag !

So let me get this straight.
If I want to cut down trees on my property the town may come after me especially if I complain. But if my neighbor leaves a pile of used bricks between our houses on his property and I complain the town will do nothing.
What's wrong with this picture?

Should have said if my neighbours complain about me cutting down trees on my property the town may come after me
