Thank you, 5:48 PM. Thank you, thank you! But we
are so small and tend to be quiet unless there is an election. Even then, voices
are seldom raised. I was so grateful to you, but haven't a clue what I can do to
help you.

You are not small. Your voice can be heard. You have a computer.
Send an e-mail to the Mayor or Councillor . Tell him you do not want public assets used for this project.
While your fingers are darting over the keyboard, tell them you are not prepared to accept another tax increase either.
It's about helping yourself .
They will listen because that is their reason for being
You put them there and occasionally we all need to be reminded.

Possibly an elected council is supposed to demonstrate the very wide differences of opinion that are being expressed around the table.
But in the end, there has to be a majority vote in order to establish a policy, or approve a tender, both of which usually involve spending taxpayer monies.
What seems lacking is any meaningful level of leadership. someone who can direct the ship of state.
Decisions are made by backing into them, not moving forward with a specific destination in mind.
We are not getting our money's worth out of this council.
I think that the leadership that we have on this council is a whole lot better than the last council !
We should count our blessings.
" They would not listen, they did not know how. Perhaps they'll listen now. "
Maybe, but highly unlikely.
