"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

Courage, Mon Ami

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Basic Rights Are Inviolate":
Quite frankly I do not understand how a small town like Aurora can be so infected with just about every human failing imaginable.

Is there a curse upon this land, this air, the water from our own wells - not that we get any more of this last one?
There are, hopefully, many good and responsible people in Aurora. Why do we not hear from them? Most of them don't even vote.

Quite frankly, I do not understand why you do not understand how a small town like Aurora, a human community like any other,, would not be possessed of every human frailty.
Why should we be different?
There are many good and responsible people like yourself.
As you illustrate by your comment, we do hear from them.
Democracy is  not about being right all the time. It's  about the right to be wrong even when you think you are right.
Including the right not to vote if we so choose.
How many times have you gone to the polls and realised there is no-one  you can vote for?
And who's to say you are wrong? Only time will tell.
BTW water in our aquifer is thousands of years old, crystal
clear and pure..
