"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

A Couple Of Comments

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Termination And Other Terms":

How many of the "26 hundred posts" mention the Cultural Centre?

***************
If it's that important to you , why don't you count them, tell us and then we will all know how  I worked  to change something I felt was not in the community's best interest.

Is this not all part of Morris's idiotic "Gold Standard?"

Unfortunately Aurora was ultimately covered in fool's gold. *****************

"You smell that? Do you smell that? Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for twelve hours. When it was all over I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like … victory." - Apocalypse Now

Kilgore's quote "I love the smell of napalm in the morning" was number 12 on the AFI's 100 Years...100 Movie Quotes list and was also voted the fourth greatest movie speech of all time in a 2004 poll.

What am I supposed to take from this
It was voted in 2004 to be  the greatest movie speech of all time, Does  that  mean  public sentiment  can be  endorsed. by poll numbers ?
Has history been re-written?
Was not Vietnam one of the Bloodiest Chapters of American history?
Is it now hailed as a victory?
Victory over what?
How long did it take for Vietnam Veterans to be acknowledged?
Has Communism failed in other parts of the world without bloodshed
Without American interference?
Without  loss of  hundreds of thousands of young American lives?
Without  rivers of grief and torrents of tears?
What price is too much for a famous movie speech ?

Just think. If the Centre would come into the Aurora tent instead of loitering outside pissing in, we wouldn't have to mention them any more than any other Aurora-based organization.

We do know that a helluva lot more mention the "Culture Centre (sic)".

I don't know if it is relevant but some people at the top of the food chain in the U.S did not send their kids off to fight. The Republican candidate for President spent a few years being a minister in France & none of his sons have been in the military. There were other parents who managed to get their sons into the Coast Guard. Canada got a whole bunch of them. It became an economic thing, much like they have today.

Gee, 2:15 PM. Would you prefer the Money Pit or the nesting place for carnivorous avians?
