You're more thin-skinned than you'd have many to believe.

The idea that politicians are thick -skinned and don't bleed when  pricked comes from  an on-looker's view.
Because they cannot imagine how they would endure , they conclude politicians  are insensitive. 
Nothing could be further from the truth.
I know of no group  more keenly attuned  to negative vibes. 
That's why the blog is such a comfort.
No longer are politicians completely at the mercy  of  the known opinion-makers ..
There are obvious risks. 
Writing  without reservation reveals one's soul.All  warts and imperfections of one 's character are exposed.  
Contradictions are spotted immediately. Any attempt  at deceit or subterfuge  are easily identifiable.  
Enemies lie in wait, ready to pounce.In the wee small hours of the morning when  effects of medication has run out.or the final glass  raised.  Abuse sprays  forth  like the proverbial organic matter
making contact with the fan.  
If one can't  be accused  of anything else,one is  accused of being pure as the driven snow.
A thick skin  is not the essential for politics. .
The essential  a robust sense of humour, a realistic view of one's place in the scheme of things and a love of humanity with all our failings
All very human qualities, relatively easy to find, .
