"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

Another Successful Fundraiser

Heather and family were involved in The Buddy Walk held at the Richmond Green on Elgin Mills in Richmond Hill yesterday . The event was held to raise funds and awareness for the York Region Down Syndrome Association.

November 1-7th is National Down Syndrome Awareness Week.

There were expenses. Coffee donuts and muffins and Lunch for 250 and two large nut-free cakes were purchased.

Raffle prizes and loot bags were donated.

Three prizes were awarded to the teams who raised the most money.

A professional fee was paid for a magic show.

A user fee was paid for the Richmond Hill facility used for the event.

A portion of the funds raised went to the National Down Syndrome Association.

When all was said and done and paid for, $8,000. were realised to defray cost of services provided by York Region Down Syndrome Association to its members.

I tell you this because the Association never asks for fees to be waived for the use of town facilities

Yet they always manage to make money for their cause and pay what it costs to accomplish the objective.

They do the same thing in the Town of Newmarket

I think that's how things should be.
