"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

On Second thought

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "What's that you say.?":

Well Ev, what have you done lately?

Leslie Frost? How many people here have heard of him? Paulie McGibbon? Holy crap, she was LG in the late '70s.

The QYR are not cadets. Ipperwash was closed years ago - I know, I was there in the summers of 1978 and 1979.

The life of a reservist is a hell of alot different than a cadet. Especially when you get activated and next thing you know, you are being trained in Pettawawa how to find IEDs.

Did you ever attend an event at the former Hydro buildings for QYR?

I didn't think so.

Note the date of the above comment. Initially I deleted it.

Occasionally I  publish samples of  the personally offensive. They add nothing to the conversation.
But they do reveal a level of intellect.

Without a crystal ball , I'd say the author is a reservist and was a cadet adding up to  lengthy involvement with the militia which in Aurora we associate with Queens York Rangers.

I always felt there were positive aspects  of the cadet program. Like the Canadian Legion was  the source to advise on protocol, I  believed  kids learned to be respectful and feel better about themselves at a time in their lives when they needed it most.

It appears  the advantage may not have been universal.

BTW  I may not have read documentation about fund-raising  being for dress uniforms for QYR.
But it certainly was first indication of it's  purpose. Former Councillor now  MLA Ballard was
probable source. I believe it was  his friendship with the former Mayor made the  connection that allowed the Hydro building to be spirited out from the town's use just like Church Street school was pirated away.

Second page: letter from:
Chris Ballard, Event Chair
Councillor, Town of Aurora

The Lieutenant Governor Simcoe's Levee in Honour of Our
Rangers will raise funds to enhance the Regimental Family and
provide financial support to past and present members in financial
hardship. Proceeds will ensure our troops receive important items,
such as care packages, when they are away on active duty, outfitting
the Regiment in Blues and funding for both the public Family Day
and our Bands.

13:29 and everyone else

Historically, Dress Uniforms are not provided by DND. They are purchased by the soldier from the Quarter Master.

Everything Ballard did while a councillor sucked.

Now he's simply a bigger sucker.

I wonder where that phoney soldier from Quebec got the mish-mash of a uniform that he wore to the Remembrance Day in Ottawa.

It would seem that part of Mr. Ballard’s communication is a cut and paste from the QYR website .donation page. Word for word.

http://qyrang.ca/donate/

makes me wonder which of his other communications/ideas are actually lifted from others.

He does seem to prefer a woman's touch to his journalism. Just saying.

I can take you to a number of surplus stores and outfit you in all of the kit that you would need. Right down to unit insignias and name tags.

It's not that difficult.
