"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

The Horns Of A Dilemma

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Who Can You Believe .?":

Wow!..Suspended for lying...Now if we can only get that to happen with politicians.

***********************

"If you can't say anything nice about a person, don't say anything at all."   A  homily from childhood
delivered  by people not neccessarily being very  nice.Teachers and elders and sundry other adults.

It's amazing how the intelligence of children is undervalued. Experts claim children learn more in their  first three years  of life than all the rest. I  believe that's true. They  are like sponges. They absorb details.

If they don't understand immediately, they store away for future reference.

I  long ago replaced  the childhood  homily ; if you can't say what you believe to be true, don't say anything  at all.

It was like that yesterday. Watching Eve Adams take a seat  at a table beside Justin Trudeau and listening to the pair read  on cue what  they obviously .believed would convince viewers of  their superior moral principles was, at one and the same time, nauseating and worrisome.

I did not want to say anything yesterday.

What if they're right. We have seen it before . Enough people willing to swallow bilge in an election  and not enough politicians with sufficient integrity to make a difference.

Conservatives or Liberals.

Last week's Auroran carried a photo of a grinning trio of Harper Party Jokers at another  table with York Region Police Chief.

They were  at  YRP headquarters . Text attached  indicated the Prime Minister was glad to be in the command centre venue speaking to "lawmakers"

But something  was out of sinc. A link was missing .I read the story twice.

The police are not lawmakers, One might reasonably expect the Head Honcho of All Lawmakers  in Canada to understand that .

York Region's Police Department is a local institution not Federal.

The Federal  Government has  a National Security vastly -underutilized facility in Aurora. Why was the Intrepid Englishman Armouries not used for whatever was  the  occasion?

Who gave permission to use the police headquarters.
When and how did it happen without public awareness?
Were secret meetings held to firm up arrangements?
Finally what was the occasion? Was it just another contrived photo opportunity using local public
resources to conduct a campaign event?

I  turned to The Aurora Banner hoping for a clue

There was no picture. No text. Only an editorial.

It seems Harper's Party has been managing  the message for some time.

The National Press Gallery have refused to attend press conferences which do not permit journalists to ask questions. One photographer has been taken away and handcuffed for shouting a question to the Prime Minister against the rules.

Number One Son Stephen visited yesterday. We talked about this. He reads the Gobe and Mail.

Told me something I had not heard  before about the Prime Minister. He is said to be a right-wing  Fundamentalist  Christian .
It would explain a lot.

Poor Ms Adams is en route to becoming the country's pariah. Eglinton Lawrence has declared she will not be their candidate. Could be the start of a trend.

Mr, Trudeau has just pissed away any credibility that he might have had when he waltzed Eve Adams to share a seat at his table.

A leopard cannot change it's spots no matter what caustic cleanser it uses.

And Harper is more to the right in his religious beliefs than George Bush ever was. At least Bush displayed some signs of humanity, while our leader makes a stone carving on a cathedral look actually winsome.

It must be quite a come-down for the face of a major American television network's news voice to be suspended without pay for six months.

That doesn't happen here. Even police under investigation are suspended with pay.

And the photo of the warrior foursome in conference on the cover of last week's Auroran is an aberration if there ever was one.

Once Harper gets a hate on for someone their political career is over. He is not fooled by a pretty smile in high heels. Think of Belinda, Helene Georgeis and now Eve Adams.

Georgeis, a cabinet minister, along with her husband (who previously held a PC seat) were viewed as trouble by Harper. The relationship turned to ice. She was out but vowed to fix him by running as an Independent. She was rejected by the voters.

Once Harper pushes them out the door he never looks back. The discarded baggage threaten law suits and retaliation but seldom, if ever, meet with any success.

Mr Harper must be laughing himself silly for unloaded Adams. He should even pay her for the damage she can inflict. It is all very shabby.

A pox on all of them. The important stuff is happening in Europe & Harper is not the one doing on the work there.

Harper doesn't laugh. He doesn't know how.

At best he snorts in the key of b flat minor.

17:07- Didn't think about it that way, but you're right. This totally is a win in for Harper.

Colour me gullible but I believed M Stronach's change of tune. The lady from the Barrie area was saddled with a weird husband.
But Eve Adams is a real piece of work.

Chantel H has a good item on Adams if you can filch it from the Star. She is usually right on the mark.

If Brian Williams was suspended for six months without pay I propose that Justin Trudeau be suspended indefinitely, and since he doesn't need the money, also without pay.

His brain must have turned to mush before he welcomed the latest "Liberal" MP to "join the party."

Who are this man's advisors? Surely there must be some experienced MP's and party loyalists who have toiled for years on their party's behalf. I would like to see a list of these people together with their reasons for either supporting or opposing such a mutton-headed decision. What they and their leader have worked so hard to accomplish is now nothing but a tiresome bit of sand., blowing in the wind and forever far away.

As is the Liberal Party!

In a late breaking Editorial in The Globe and Mail the headline is:

WHAT THE GIRL GUIDES CAN TEACH THE LIBERAL PARTY

The two concluding paragraphs are simple enough, even for politicians:

"There's an easy way for Mr. Trudeau and his team to smooth things with their own party. Let the nomination in Eglinton-Lawrence run its course. Stand aside, and let whoever sells the most cookies, win. At this late date, and facing a local Liberal with a big head start, even Katie Francis would be challenged to win the cookie-sale sweepstakes.

In the Machiavellian sport that is politics, that should suit the Liberal brain trust just fine. They could get their floor-crossing, without being saddled with the floor-crosser. It would be like having your cookie and eating it too."

Maybe not. If they just let the system run its course, Adams will be unable to find a riding & everyone will move on to the next mess. It is not as if Harper were running a clean ship with his most recent cabinet shuffle. He has his hands full too.

By the way, Katie Francis of Oklahoma City sold 18,107 boxes of Girl Scout cookies in seven weeks.

Her future could lie in sales.
