Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "COUNCILLOR
ABEL"'S POSITION":
Evelyn, I know that you hate those that disagree
with you but do you need to stoop to the level of other bloggers and start
calling them names.....
Clowncillor
Really??
***********
I don't hate those who disagree with me.
I live in the real world.
I didn't call Councillor Ballard a "Clowncillor"
No matter what he says about me.
I don't censor comments.
I publish them or not.
You misrepresented facts but I published your comment. .
I could not let you continue to think badly of me for something I did NOT do.
Have a great day!

That word has begun to pop up fairly regularly. After a few repetitions it loses any meaning and is treated like an other typo. No need for such fuss & bother. The protestor must be seriously bored!
Mr. Watts would appear to have had an excellent weekend. He is in rare form this morning, unless it went up last night.
I called him Clownclr Ballard and you can follow the nonsense at @ClowncilWatch on twitter
Seems things are getting a bit heated on the Jazz front.
You may not edit any comments; as you say, you "publish them or not."
But, not publishing a comment is definitely a form of censorship. How can you not think otherwise?!
ahh, I see another reference to "Clowncillor" as well...
To Anonymous 11:30am,
I don’t believe that your statement “But, not publishing a comment is definitely a form of censorship. How can you not think otherwise?!” holds true as an absolute statement.
For a blogger to not publish comments is selective commenting not censorship.
From what I see a blog is an ongoing discussion published by an individual or a group and it is expressing their point of view on a subject(s). The audience may or may not comment and/or blogger may or may not publish the audience points of view, quite similar in that a newspaper or magazine may not publish all of the “letters to the editor” that it may receive. A blog is not an open forum.
Censorship by definition needs a controlling body. Is Evelyn a controlling body? No.
Evelyn is under no obligation to publish your comments – it’s her blog. The blogger has created their own audience and they control what they write and publish (and perhaps some bloggers don’t have an audience but write for their own expression without the need for a following).
If for example Mayor M had a blog and Mayor Candidate X commented on M’s blog “Don’t vote for Mayor M” would M be censoring their blog by not publishing the comment. (What’s the use of M having a blog in the first place then?)
If you want your comments published go start your own blog. So long as you are obeying the laws of Canada no one is stopping you.
Hey 11:30 AM. Evelyn can post what she wants. It's her blog. Get your own blog if you think you're being censored.
"For a blogger to not publish comments is selective commenting not censorship."
I'd invite you to consult a definition of the word "censorship" ... please.
"Censorship by definition needs a controlling body. Is Evelyn a controlling body? No.
...The blogger has created their own audience and they control what they write and publish..."
You contradicted your point about control in the very next paragraph.
"Evelyn is under no obligation to publish your comments – it’s her blog."
I absolutely agree, but she can't claim to not censor comments when, by choosing not to publish some, she clearly does.
just for clarification, regarding 2nd last paragraph;
" I read now, the organizers, a Clowncillor and Councillor Ballard are accusing .... etc"
There are 3 parties
1) "the organizers"
2) "a Clowncillor" - is the @ClowncilWatch tweeter
and
3) "Councillor Ballard"
Just for further clarification, Cllr Abel, weren't you accusing Cllr Ballard of being the @ClowncilWatch tweeter on your Twitter feed?

I politely ask that perhaps you should re-read the definition of censorship yourself to understand the meaning of a controlling body as they generally site examples such as a government or media outlet.
Evelyn is not a “controlling body” such as a government or a media outlet.
Yes, she controls or chooses what she wishes to write and publish but she is not a controlling body in the definition. She does not have control over her audience as a government or a media outlet may have control.
Your error is similar to your previous logic, just because Evelyn “controls” what she writes does not make her a “controlling body”.
If you think it is censorship then you agree that Mayor M has to publish “Do not vote for Mayor M” on their own blog? Really?
She is not censoring, she is selectively publishing comments as do 99% of what others may do. Give me a break.
The Town would be censoring if they did not allow one to speak appropriately (in a civil and legal manner) at the Council’s Open Forum.
We just went through this with the SLAPP in that ex-Mayor Morris was using the “controlling body” and the resources of the Town of Aurora to essentially censor the comments against her.
You give Evelyn more credit than she’s due (no offense to Evelyn) but as an individual blog writer at her size of audience she is not a controlling body.
If I agreed with you then we would both be wrong!
Man! The resident Dung Beetle [ hope that is acceptable? ] is angry. What a flurry of snarkisms [ is that word OK ? ] Please note that this occurs whenever it has been thwarted or believes itself to have been thwarted. Usually the latter. Contradiction is rampant with this character. Evelyn allows it great latitude to make nasty remarks but occasionally she draws the line. Then it howls ' censorship!!'
Bottom Line: Evelyn's Blog
P.S. It once did have it's own Blog, I believe, which ran out of energy. I think [ careful enough?] that is why it is such a parasite here.

Anything to get attention ! You sound like a two-year old throwing a tantrum because you didn't get your little comment printed. Get your own bloody Blog. We are heartily sick of your carping.
We need a new acronym. How does GYOB for Get Your Own Blog sound?
Oh, going to get your own blog, 5:06 PM? I look forward to reading it.
