"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

Monday Morning Playback

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "We must Take IT Where We Find IT.":

Are we ever going to see the loser again? Will she even stand for election? Or is she like that Caroline in Mississauga who only wants to grab Hazel's seat without bothering to serve on Council? Hazel picked the winner: John Turner did not.

*****************
You can't always believe what you see.
Greg Sorbara was in S.P.'s box but  with  his back to the camera.
Hazel MC Callion was in Kathleen's box  That was a surprise .. I My  impression  was Conservative leanings.
Our former Mayor hangs around with Liberals..I understand Whitehurst and Ballard are  of the  Riding Executive.
Certainly, the other half of the deadly duo is Liberal.  I heard she sold seventy-five memberships  to  ensure Tim Jones didn't get the nomination. He did.
Carolyn did run for Council and was elected in Mississuaga. .She brought to public attention Hazel was collecting about $80,000
compensation from Mississauga Hydro  as well as. in excess of   couple of hundred thousand  as Mayor.
Hazel stopped taking the Hydro compensation but Carolyn wasn't electenext time around.
I heard Hazel went to  polling stations telling people she could not work with "that woman"
It was also Carolyn who brought to world attention, the tape version of the  meeting  did not agree with the written record  by the clerk about whether or not the Mayor declared a conflict of interest in the matter of  a pecuniary benefit.
Two decisions already on Rob Ford. None at all on Hazel.
Is justice in Ontario  political? ?????????
Word is Hazel has told municipal staff, she will not be a candidate for office again.
It  can be said for the testing of Provincial legislation   governing conscience of municipal politicians, we are acquiring  a sense of how useful it is.
If  a person needs a rule book as a  guide to what's right and wrong, that's  not  really a person  who should hold public office. Do not, I repeat not.... mark a cross beside that name. That's not a person who can be relied upon for reading comprehension let alone judgement.
To go back to the beginning of the post ,  S,P, will not likely run again. Her hopes will lie in the plum appointment she didn't get  already.
She has   pre-teens at home who need  their mother .
Liberal fortunes in the next election were boosted by the loser's performance on Saturday,
Payback remains to be seen.

A Question Outstanding

About the boardwalk pub owner'press statement  that  he plans to appeal dismissal of his action  against Toronto's Mayor.
A right to appeal is not part of the  process.
Application for leave to appeal must be filed.
Reasons for the application must be provided and accepted.
On Friday ,Councillor Doug Ford,  brother of the Mayor  referred to costs and the right to pursue..
On the heels of that, came  the pub-owner's statement  he would appeal.
I would imagine the Mayor might be able to include damage to his reputation as part of the cost. There's plenty of that flying about.
Councillor Mammoliti hasindicated he plans to seek an investigation into conspiracy at the town hall.
I've never heard of a formal process for pursuing an investigation of  conspiracy  at any level of politics.
It might just be a strategy to rattle a few cages.
There certainly is evidence of a collective effort to undo the results of the municipal election.
But my goodness ,the net would have to be spread wide.
An investigation  on such a scale  makes as much sense as a  permissive Code of Conduct for a particular brand  of politician..

Whitehurst doesn't have a good betting average in

elections. Wonder who he and his little team supported?
I don't know about Newmarket but if the Liberals want to take a serious run in Aurora, they would probably be wise not to have the Former in the front of their bus.

I'm of the view that Ballard, Whitehurst and Morris will hurt the Liberal ticket in Aurora, big time.
