I had to stop publishing critical comments about THE CANDIDATE.
It was increasingly problematic trying to sort them out. It was also turning into a frenzy.
Since I sropped publishing, I decided to go back and remove those already published .
So please...cease and desist .. it's not useful.

Freedom of speech kicks the bucket someone call Ezra...or maybe Ev supports him. we know anything said about the mayor, Abel, Humphreys, Thompson and Pirri always gets published hmm double standards.
If that is the case we should thus stop publishing critical comments about every member of council agree?
CENSORED!!!
Good morning, Evelyn. It is lovely out & Eugenie Bouchard has won Wimbledon. All is well in the world as long as we avoid the hard news and political stories.
Bummer - Press got the scores reversed. bouchard down a set.

I agree with the decision. Since I do not read twitter-feeds, I get confused when information gets dropped out of the sky. If someone wishes to write a brief explanation & provide a reliable source written in complete words, I am willing to learn about events in town. There simply is not enough time to track every squabble.
7:08, 7:10- If your talking about Pulluno...he's not a member of council. Besides....Evelyn can post whatever she likes... It's her blog...what part of that don't you understand?
@7:12
There is no need to shout.
It is not censorship. It is called moderation. That individual has many alternative out-lets.
Not meaning to be critical but our mayor wants to borrow $25M over a term of 15 years at 3.27%. Total cost is $94.5M.
Now that is one expensive public works garage. If the construction and the financing proceed (and indeed if tenders and overruns stay at $25M) our mayor will have successfully squeezed future councils and Aurora taxpayers in a real way.
I say this in light of the fact that numerous public works functions are now contracted.
11:46-The mayor has gotten a taste of how to spend money through York region council. That council needs to be broken up in a bad way including staff.

I can't stand failures in simple mathematics.
If no principal is repaid over the 25 years the total interest would amount to $20,437,500.
This is simply 3.27x25x25. You can figure where to locate the decimal.
Even the Auroran got it glaringly wrong last week.
Math is definitely in trouble in our world.

Your response provides no solution to the problem. The proposal, as I understand it, is a loan of $25M over a period of 15 years at a rate of 3.27%. To arrive at an annual payment the principal must be included over this 15 years.
You are correct that the Auroran got it wrong - either it was incorrectly calculated by the town or the Auroran is guilty of a typo.
The annual payment including principal would be about $2M.
I concur with the poster that it is a lot of taxpayers' money for a town this size and for a public works garage when some portion of that work including snowplowing (where heavy trucks are required)is contracted.

In the meantime we must deal with the council in place. Evelyn is a single councillor with only one vote.
She is not able to follow through on most of the suggestions you put forward in your comments.
16:10- I was talking about York Region Council.
Well even without knowing where the numbers were coming from or who made the error, you don't pay $94M over 15 years on a $25M loan at 3.27% interest. The total cost over 15 years paying back the principal of course is more like $31.66M and so the total interest or cost of borrowing is $6.66M over the 15 years. It's amazing when people throw numbers around that they don't really look at them first to see if it really makes any sense. To be at $94M you'd have to have an interest rate of about 25%.

And what are you planning to do about it. ? Storm the Bastille ? All one of you ?
ok...How about we all agree it's a shit load of money for a garage.
16:10
I believe 12:55 is talking about the council the mayor sits on at York Region, which nobody talks about.
They’re probably the same poster that now and again refers to the Region’s debt.
