"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

Sauce For The Goose Is Sauce for The Gander

Elizabeth Bishenden has left a new comment on your post "What?????":
I have no problem with people pointing out inaccurate information. I do take exception to innuendo that a well-respected and helpful citizen in Aurora might have an opinion about a matter because of his wife's employment rather than because he is... well, helpful and well-respected. The way I see it, Steve Falk's considerable contributions to our community make him someone who has the credibility to comment on what happens in Aurora.
His is not the only opinion I think is important - I am pretty interested in hearing all sides of an argument. I can tell you one thing, though. I don't put much faith in the words of "Anonymous".

If Mr Falk's spouse worked for St Kitts Music it might have some bearing on his support re: the Jazz+ Festival. As it is, it's a total non-issue, and should never have been brought up by a member of the tinfoil hat brigade.

Well you know Elizabeth  it happens to the best of us.
Last week John Sununi, former adviser to George Bush and if I recall correctly, a  cabinet colleague of Colin Powell , suggested  that gentleman  endorsed  President Obama for re-election because he was black.
A  veritable explosion of verbiage followed but  the race card was quickly swept back under the rug by all parties.
I myself  was not conscious of Mr. Falk's connection to a staff person at the Culture Centre. Learning of it here , made me wonder  if perhaps his outrage  was  not about the Jazz Festival, so much as about the Culture Centre  contract currently under scrutiny.
was obviously  the particular target of his criticism . Little subtlety was employed.
I understand why he might want to talk about the contract .
But when Mr. Falk takes it upon himself to  challenge another's  motives , neither he nor you Elizabeth, are in any position to complain if others do  the same thing.
One more point, it does not behoove us to grant deferential rights   to one citizen over another on the.basis of community status.
We are all equal under the sun.

That was an odd tempest in a teapot over a single snarky remark. Nothing has been presented to dispute any of the facts presented here and elsewhere. Next they'll be throwing their shoes at us. [ or is that also politically incorrect to mention? ]
