Gary McLoughlin has succeeded in attracting the Toronto Star's attention to the plight of the Petch House.
After seven years of sometimes raucous commentary about the merits of saving the structure and challenging advocates to provide a purpose and a location.it will be interesting to see if Toronto Star attention will produce any better results.
I suspect not.
It 's of passing interest, Council received a delegation last week from a Richmond Hill resident claiming to have formed an organisation called "Friends of the Petch House". Seated alongside was Gary McLoughlin who sought a deal from the town. outside the normal process, to pay him $120.000 to restore the building, prior to the last election
Oddly, The Star story did not mention the "Friends of the Petch House"from Richmond Hill with the proposed "Walk for History" and their request Council defer the latest recommendation of town staff to not spend public resources on the Petch House.
The story also referred to the building as an authentic log house. It's not. It's an authentic clap-board clad house .
The story quotes John McIntyre local historian with a family connection to the building but apparently no personal interest in taking responsibility, despite seven years of opportunity to claim the building as his own and persistent,behind the scenes lobbying of Council without ever showing his face.

Maybe they can move the Petch house to where that stupid falling down tree is located (all fenced in) turn all of it into fire wood.
Are you sure that guy in the pictue has'nt been stowed away deep in the bowels of the petch house , he certainly appears to fit the description of everything else you have previously described as living in there !
