"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

It Does So Matter

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Jig-A-Jig....Puzzle Gradually Comes Together":

It doesn't matter who they are. What does matter is that our Mayor and CAO are taking orders from them and whoever they are have never been elected to a position where this is allowed . I question the ethics but will leave wiser heads to have a really good look at who is calling the shots about Aurora's real estate and cash flow. You should only be prepared to grovel if you are prepared to explain why you allowed yourself to be placed in such a situation. Council needs to get off the floor.

Why does it look like the Mayor and CAO were the ones TAKING orders?

It certainly does matter who  they are and were, who created an agreement that allowed a facility owned and financed by Aurora taxpayers' dollars, to be hi-jacked to serve the purpose of an organization with roots in the wider community of York Region, for the benefit of people who contribute nothing  to the burden of our taxation.

Does anyone imagine, with  the secrecy surrounding it, there was no deliberate plan to take over the building?

Does anyone believe the non-answer of the Chairman of the Board about why the Museum was locked out of  a  building. always intended to be its home?

Or why the Chairman needed to be coached  in his answers to straightforward questions.?

This is not a  question of ethics..

In my judgement, it is a question of mis-directed  public funds.for a purpose not previously disclosed.

It's the reason, in my mind, for an unambiguous  report from the town solicitor.

Once brought to legal  attention,  omissions and shortcomings  in the  agreement could no longer be papered over.

Unequivocal  advice  for immediate change was a warning that had to be taken seriously.

I do not believe the issue is one for  negotiation.

That  agreement can no longer be sustained.

This might be resolved very quickly.

The Town should simply withhold quarterly funding as a means of bringing the existing agreement to a de facto end and in its place propose an agreement that contains and reflects all of the concerns that were enumerated in the Town Solicitor's Report and Recommendations of December 6, 2011.

Do you think the ACC will sue the Town? I think that is highly unlikely.

The only thing that's required to correct all of this is a clear understanding of the mandate and message that was sent to this council on October 25th 2010 and sufficient enough parts to make it happen , Seems all but three have forgotten their mission, Tis a shame to say the least

And the message was to cease all spending which could not be justified. The Mayor Himself responded that he would simply say ' No ' and there was applause, Those hands went with the feet of their owners to the polls. STOP BEING STUPID WITH AURORA'S MONEY.
