"Cowardice asks the question...is it safe? Expediency asks the question...is it politic? Vanity asks the question...is it popular? But conscience asks the question...is it right? And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular but one must take it because it is right." ~Dr. Martin Luther King

More Tiresome Details

You know, even if I agreed with you, I'm sure I would still find this constant repetition to be terribly tiresome. on Comparators Abound
***********
You know, I worry about that.
 I continue on anyway.
It just seems like the right thing to do.
But here's something new;thought of since the last post.
I  don't imagine you will find  knowing it less tiresome.
We have homes in Aurora  with more  floor space  than Church Street school. Built on estate lots between 2 and 4 acres .
The school has four classrooms. It was built when the town had
population of a couple of  thousand people. At  most , there might have been  a couple of hundred students. The town was very small.
A mere cluster of houses around the school and the Church. .
No kindergarten at the time.
Maybe, four teachers, including the principal. The principal , Del Babcock, organised the town's  hockey program as well.
He was  retired and Chairman of the Library board when I was a   member as Mayor
Here's another snippet of information from the Board's recent  quarterly statement  submitted to the town by the board which you will  probably find tiresome to know also.
*The Organization’s internally restricted assets consists of the following:
The Board of Directors approved to internally restrict $18,489 from the unrestricted assets. The purpose of this
fund is to disburse funds for the Organization’s future Classical Music Series
The Board of Directors approved to internally restrict $100,000 from the unrestricted net assets. The purpose of
this contingency fund is to provide the Organization with sufficient working capital should the Organization
experience a significant decline in future funding, or to facilitate an orderly wind up of the Organization’s
operations in the event that the Organization will not be able to continue with its day to day operations.
Disbursements made out of this fund may only be approved by the Board of Directors

I must agree with sentiments recently expressed by others.

There seem to be a few dead horses in Aurora that are continually getting flogged.

There might have been some point to this while they were still alive, but there no longer is.

We all know that we have a Council that is lacking in experience, in knowhow, in ability to govern.

We also know that the majority of the senior staff - the Directors - have seized the day and are effectively running the town.

If the Council had any sense of its ultimate responsibility to the residents and taxpayers it would place several staff Directors on probation and if their performance does not significantly improve they should be replaced.

I leave it up to you to set the probation period.

It sure would be refreshing to see some leadership and vision from those we elected. I will accept reluctantly that most are doing the best they can. However it seems as if the taxpayers are getting short-shift from the very ones who campaigned on an promise to end the foolishness.

This does not compute. They do not own the building but have $100,00 squirreled away for their possible contingency. They require more money from Aurora?
